MODEL OVERVIEW

About this model: GE FUF21DLRWW

21.3-cu-ft FUF21DLRWW freezer with documented High Temp and Door Open panel alerts.

Size, position and door geometry

The FUF21DLRWW is GE's 21.3 cubic foot upright freezer, a tall frost-free cabinet rather than a chest with a lid. It measures 76.5 inches high, 32.875 inches wide and 31.375 inches deep according to the exact model listing. Before placing one in a garage, measure the complete route, the door swing and the final space, including the three inches of free air that the manual requests on the top, back and both sides. GE calls this model garage ready, but its installation page still excludes sites below 0°F or above 110°F, rain, direct sunlight and a floor unable to bear a fully loaded unit. The feet at the front are adjustable so that a door opened roughly halfway tends to close. That setup matters because the right-hinged door has a real electronic open-door alert, and a cabinet leaning forward or crowded against a wall could make closure less reliable.

Which panel belongs to this SKU

This full SKU is important when interpreting the 48-page owner booklet. The cover names FUF14, FUF17 and FUF21 families, without every retail suffix. GE's exact FUF21DLRWW specifications independently identify Easy-Set Electronic controls, an audible temperature alarm and a door alarm, so the illustrated electronic panel is applicable here. On the first power connection the seven-segment display flashes its default temperature and High Temp may sound while the warm cabinet cools. The guide says to run the freezer for at least four hours before loading food; a press of Alarm Reset only stops the sound and flashing at startup, while the High Temp light stays lit until the inside returns to a safe storage temperature. Treat the lit indicator as a temperature condition, not a numeric component fault, and avoid repeatedly changing the setpoint while the system is still stabilizing after a single adjustment.

High Temp after startup or lost power

High Temp can also follow an interruption of electricity. Page six separates two observations: a genuine warm interior can activate the alarm and flashing temperature display, while an already recovered interior may leave the display flashing simply to remember the outage. In the latter case Alarm Reset clears the reminder. If the inside is still too warm, silencing the sound cannot establish that food is safe; the High Temp indication remains until temperature recovers, and the sound can return after six hours if it does not. Record when power returned, the displayed temperature, whether the lamp persists, and the elapsed recovery time. The same panel provides an eight-hour Turbo Freeze mode, but its ON lamp identifies an intentionally selected function; it should not be mistaken for a failure warning. During a prolonged outage, the manual advises keeping the door closed and gives separate food-handling guidance rather than using the reset control as a safety test.

Door Open and useful service notes

Door Open has different logic. After the door remains open beyond two minutes, its text and sound appear; pressing the Door Open control can mute the sound, yet the text remains until the door actually closes, and the sound can recur ten minutes later. Use that sequence to inspect the physical seal. This 21.3 cubic foot version has four glass cabinet shelves, three slide-out bulk baskets, four clear door shelves and LED lighting; a package pushed beyond a shelf front can obstruct the gasket. The manual expressly forbids that overhang and describes how the front feet assist closing. Organize labeled packages to shorten searches, then check the door from top to bottom rather than assuming the alarm switch is broken. The spring-loaded key lock is a storage access feature and its key belongs away from children. For support, give the entire FUF21DLRWW number, indicate which of High Temp or Door Open appeared, and describe the door, power and temperature history. Those are documented panel messages, not invented error numbers.
