MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: GE GTW680BSJWS
GTW680BSJWS: exact Infusor and Stain Removal Guide panel, four CHI alerts and specific care.
Infusor, capacity and matching panel
The white GTW680BSJWS is a 4.6-cubic-foot top-loader with a stainless basket and an Infusor, not an agitator column. GE's exact specification gives it fourteen wash cycles, a digital countdown, an 800-rpm maximum spin and a 27-inch width. Its linked sixty-page owner and installation guide identifies GTW680 on the cover with GTW685, GTW585 and GTW580, so the drawings must be matched to the actual SKU. The upper drawing on page seven has the Stain Removal Guide choices across its left side and a display with cycle options to the right. GE separately lists the Stain Removal Guide for GTW680BSJWS. The lower drawing instead has a manual Water Level Control and a different set of programs. The upper arrangement, rather than the lower one, makes the page-nine Consumer Help Indicator table applicable to this washer. An owner should read the actual text that scrolls across the display: an approximate time estimate by itself does not identify the cause of a stoppage, and a light next to a cycle stage is not an error code. This distinction is particularly useful because this family guide covers two control layouts.
Four display and lamp signals
The page-nine table gives four useful fault or help routes. H2O SUPPLY means water is not entering or the level cannot be sensed: inspect the household supply and both inlet valves. The message locks the controls for four minutes; pulling the plug does not shorten that wait and instead starts it again. CAnCELEd can follow a pause of more than twenty-four hours or a cycle the washer stopped before completion; it has the same temporary lockout, and a recurring message warrants service. Lid is more specific than an ordinary open-lid pause. After three cycles have been started without opening the lid, the washer requires the lid to be opened and closed before another start. A blinking Spin lamp reports an out-of-balance load. The machine tries to compensate, but if clothes remain unusually wet, redistribute them and choose Drain & Spin. Page eight also lists harmless display states: SEnSIng is normal load assessment, and FILL scrolls for the first forty-five seconds of ordinary filling. Delay Wash values 01H through 09H are hour choices, not failure numbers. Recording the exact label prevents a normal timed step from being mistaken for the household-water or balance problem.
How this stain guide changes the wash
This GTW680's stain option is worth using deliberately because it changes the treatment before the selected wash. Page thirteen says Stain Removal Guide makes a concentrated first fill at a stain-specific temperature, then scrubs and soaks before adding more water for the chosen cycle. Repeated button presses select tomato, wine, blood, grass or dirt; its lamp identifies the current choice. Blood calls for a cold rinse and liquid pretreatment before loading. For dry dirt or clay, brush loose particles away first, then rinse cool. Tomato-type sauces are treated differently from wine and beverages; the manual's table pairs them with separate preparation advice. The option changes Soil and Temperature from their ordinary defaults, so check the care label and the lit stain category before pressing Start. GE's exact specification confirms the stain guide for this model; this is not a feature inferred merely from a family chart. The 4.6-cubic-foot Infusor basket can carry a sizeable load, yet a large item should still be placed loosely around the outer basket to let the selected wash movement work. One stain choice will not diagnose H2O SUPPLY; that displayed warning concerns the incoming water supply instead.
Dispensers, water options and upkeep
For loading and upkeep, this machine has ordinary dispenser drawers rather than the bulk detergent tank used on GTW750. The manual places high-efficiency detergent on the right, liquid fabric conditioner on the left and liquid chlorine bleach in the front-left bleach opening. Single-dose packets belong at the bottom of the basket, not in the drawer. GE recommends sorting lint producers from lint collectors and distributing dry articles loosely around the outside of the basket; an unbalanced heavy article is especially relevant when Spin flashes. Deep Fill can add some water with one press, or reach the deepest allowed level after a three-second hold, but the guide reserves it for special loads and notes the longer filling time. Auto Soak offers fifteen, thirty, sixty or 120 minutes, while My Cycle can store preferred settings with a three-second press. These selected timings are different from CAnCELEd's enforced waiting period. For maintenance, run Basket Clean at least monthly with the basket empty, wash residue from the removable dispenser drawer with warm soapy water, and replace water hoses after five years. Those actions protect normal operation while the four page-nine help signals remain the right place to start when the display reports a problem.
