MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: GE JB350DFBB
GE JB350DFBB is a black five-cubic-foot-class electric coil range with two 3,000-watt Power Boil elements, electronic controls and self-clean. Its owner guide explains generic F errors.
Locate the two high-output coils
JB350DFBB is GE's black electric range with a 5.3-cubic-foot oven, storage drawer and porcelain-enamel coil top. Its high-output elements are not side by side: the left rear and right front are each eight-inch, six-turn Power Boil coils rated at 3,000 watts. The front-left and right-rear elements are smaller six-inch, four-turn, 1,500-watt coils. This diagonal arrangement matters when choosing a pan for rapid boiling or identifying which receptacle requires attention. The exact GE product page also confirms a lift-up top with support rods and a removable full-width drawer. The owner's PDF linked there covers several ranges; its instructions should be matched to these exact GE specifications. A chapter for glass radiant units elsewhere in a range family should never override the confirmed plug-in coil construction of JB350DFBB.
Understand the traditional oven's time controls
The oven has electronic touchpads and digital temperature display, but its cooking system is traditional. GE's exact record lists six-pass bake and broil elements, self-clean and a delayed bake option. On the linked control page, Cook Time can turn the oven off at the end of cooking, whereas Timer simply alerts. A delay setting may make the oven appear idle until its planned start. The special-features page also permits a Bake temperature offset, which affects ordinary baking rather than diagnosing a broken element. Note whether the oven was set to Bake, Broil, Cook Time or Delay Time before comparing temperatures or calling for repair. At the surface knobs, the manual says a slight click can accompany maintaining a selected heat level. That sound alone does not identify the oven's separate electronic function-error display.
Read F and other display conditions accurately
Page twenty-three labels F followed by a number or letter a function error. The PDF supplies no meaning for the suffix and does not identify a specific sensor or board. Press Cancel/Off, let the oven cool for an hour and retry; if F returns, disconnect all power for at least thirty seconds, restore it and seek service if the code recurs. Photograph the display first and note whether the oven was cooking or cleaning. LOCK DOOR flashing after a self-clean selection belongs to another row: the door has not closed. A locked door after cleaning can still be cooling. A display gone blank has its own checks for a breaker, a clock turned off or Sabbath mode. Treating these states as F would hide the straightforward checks given in the manual.
Handle self-cleaning and removable coils
Self-clean uses a door latch in this owner's guide. The cleaning instructions say to close and latch the door, remove loose items and never force the latch when the oven is too hot. The exact JB350DFBB specification confirms self-clean, while the manual cautions that the door cannot immediately be opened after the hot cycle. For the coil top, turn controls off and allow cooling before pulling an element from its drip pan. The maintenance page says to raise it about one inch, warning that repeatedly lifting it higher can damage the receptacle. A gentle cleaning process for the enamel and removable pans is appropriate; a ceramic-glass scraper is not. This mix of diagonal Power Boil elements, time-programmed traditional oven and manual latch makes JB350DFBB materially different from superficially similar GE ranges.
