MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: GE JGB928TEKWW
JGB928TEKWW is a True White GE Profile gas-on-glass double oven range. Its lower drawer bakes food with its own knob and rack, while the upper oven supplies convection, Self Clean and an F error display.
Identify the white glass-top double oven
JGB928TEKWW is a True White GE Profile free-standing double oven range with a Gas-On-Glass Ceramic cooking surface. Four sealed burners rise through the glass beneath heavy, continuous grates. The exact listing gives a 15,000-BTU Power Boil, a 5,000-BTU Precise Simmer, plus 11,000- and 9,100-BTU burners. The white glass door and gray grates distinguish its appearance from the stainless JGB920, but the more important distinction is the lower compartment: it is an actual oven drawer, not merely a place to hold hot food. The owner's PDF names JGB928 on its cover and labels separate upper and lower oven sections. QuickSet VI digital controls operate the upper oven, while a dedicated lower drawer knob controls the second baking space. Its red marking helps distinguish that knob from a surface-burner control. When identifying a part, note both the burner location and which oven cavity it belongs to. The full TEKWW suffix also matters for white trim and glass replacements.
Choose upper convection or lower drawer baking
The upper oven supports conventional baking, closed-door broiling, convection and a meat-temperature probe. Convection is explicitly limited to the upper oven in this manual: a fan circulates heated air for several upper racks and conversion adjusts a regular recipe temperature. GE lists three oven racks and six positions, permitting staggered baking when pans have room for airflow. The lower oven drawer has a different use pattern. Its own knob can set baking heat for pizza, frozen foods, casseroles, rolls and desserts using standard oven times and temperatures. The manual insists on the included drawer rack; food, foil and cookware must not sit directly on its bottom. The lower ON lamp shows the control is active, while the Heating lamp cycles with its elements. It takes time to preheat: the guide gives approximate examples of twenty minutes at 350°F and thirty at 425°F. Its warm zone can maintain already-hot servings, but that function should not obscure that the drawer also bakes. Food height is limited to four inches inside this compartment.
Care for each cavity and ceramic glass
Self Clean belongs to the upper oven. Before it starts, surface burners must be off, and the lower oven drawer cannot operate during that upper cycle. Remove the probe, cookware and broiler equipment from the upper cavity, clean heavy soil and wait for the door lock to release after cooling. The lower drawer has a removable insert for its own hand cleaning; do not put that insert into the upper Self Clean cavity. A separate knob with a red line is returned to its original lower drawer position after exterior cleaning. Gas burners on ceramic glass need yet another routine: remove cool grates and use the specified ceramic cooktop cleaner and recommended pad. Sugary spills can pit the glass permanently if left in place. The owner's guide also has a porcelain surface section for other ranges; it is not the finish under this model's burners. Position-specific grate pieces should be returned as marked so the continuous arcs line up over the cooktop.
Follow the upper oven's F sequence
On physical PDF page 10, a flashing F with a number or letter is identified as an upper oven function error. Press Clear/Off, let the oven cool for one hour and try it again. The later troubleshooting row on page 53 says that, if the function code repeats, all power to the range should be disconnected for five minutes, then restored; call service if F comes back. The brief description on page 10 omits the duration, so page 53 supplies the precise reset interval. No individual suffix is mapped to a sensor, gas valve or board. A clock flashing after outage instead needs resetting with any timed programs. If the lower drawer will not heat, check its separate knob, power and whether the upper Self Clean is running before treating it as an F condition. Report JGB928TEKWW, the upper display text and the active mode to a technician.
Verified model details
The lower oven drawer can bake pizza or casseroles; it is more than a warming drawer.
