MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: GE JT950CACC
JT950CACC is a bisque GE Profile Performance double wall oven: the upper oven has convection and probe, the lower uses traditional cooking, and both cavities self-clean.
Identify two different oven cavities
JT950CACC is a 30-inch GE Profile Performance electric double wall oven with a Bisque finish and color-matched frameless doors. The exact GE specifications separate the cavities: the upper oven uses convection technology while the lower oven is traditional. This is more useful than treating the two windows as duplicate cooking spaces. GE lists three racks and seven embossed positions in the upper cavity, versus two racks and six positions below. The SmartSet control serves the paired ovens, with separate selection of upper or lower tasks. The linked owner's PDF lists the JT950 family on its cover along with several other built-in models. As a result, a feature appearing in a generic control illustration does not automatically exist in both cavities or on this finish. Use the precise JT950CACC equipment list to decide where a roasting rack, convection function or temperature probe belongs. Before copying a recipe from one cavity to the other, note which oven you used and whether a fan was involved. The two ovens can support separate preparations, but their heat movement and accessories differ.
Use upper-oven convection and probe
Convection Bake and Convection Roast are listed for the upper oven only. The upper cavity also has the automatic meat thermometer and a roasting rack. The manual explicitly says double-oven probes are in the upper oven; it advises keeping the probe out of a self-clean cycle. For 30-inch three-rack convection baking it gives positions A, C and E, leaving air space between pans. The convection fan stops when the door opens, so a paused fan during inspection is not itself a fault. GE's Convection Conversion also applies to the upper oven. Hold the Convection Bake key to select it, enter the recipe temperature and inspect the reduced displayed temperature: the manual illustrates 350°F becoming 325°F. The conversion has to be selected for each use because the setting is not retained in memory. This differs from simply choosing ordinary Bake, especially in the traditional lower cavity. Cook and Hold with delayed bake is listed for the model, yet it should not be confused with the upper probe's internal-food target or a display alert.
Sequence cleaning in a double oven
Both ovens on JT950CACC are specified for Self Clean and automatic cleaning-door locks. In the double-oven guide, two cleaning requests are sequenced: the oven set last waits until the first cleaning cycle ends. The guide also permits timed baking in one oven while the other self-cleans. Set the intended cavity deliberately rather than assuming both start at once. Remove broiler pan, grid, probe, cookware and foil, wipe heavy soil and follow the self-clean setup for the chosen oven. A door remains locked until temperature drops below its release point, even if the timer has ended. The manual says the word LOCK flashes when a cleaning cycle was requested without closing the door. Those states are different from a failed door latch. The exact product record lists an automatic lock for upper and lower, so the lock advice belongs to this double-wall version. Avoid moving a hot rack between cavities as a workaround: the upper and lower rack sets and positions are not identical. A cleaning schedule affects availability of the ovens but does not turn the traditional lower oven into a convection cavity.
Interpret F and other display messages
Physical PDF page 32 calls F with a number or letter a function error. It gives no reliable translation from an individual suffix to a heating element or control board. Write down the full display and whether the upper or lower oven was operating. Press CLEAR/OFF, let the appliance cool for one hour, then try the affected function again. If F repeats, the table says to disconnect all power to the oven for at least thirty seconds and reconnect; request service if it returns. The same page separates a blank display caused by a household fuse or a clock blackout setting, and a flashing display after a power failure that calls for resetting the clock. A Probe prompt can simply ask for an internal-food temperature after the upper probe is plugged in. These clues keep an ordinary setting issue from being mislabeled as the general F fault. Because the manual covers multiple wall ovens, the exact SKU's upper/lower split remains essential when reporting the error to service.
