MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: GE PHB925STSS
PHB925STSS is GE Profile's induction range with a heated drawer; its exact-linked induction manual explains pan recognition, Boost sharing, Loc On and a flashing F function error.
Identify this induction range and its heated drawer
GE PHB925STSS is a 30-inch free-standing Profile induction range with a 5.30-cubic-foot oven and an actual heated warming drawer. Its exact product specification names electronic Glass Touch controls and a graphite-patterned black glass-ceramic surface. The owner PDF linked from this SKU names free-standing, slide-in and drop-in induction ranges on its cover and calls the oven interface Next Step Control. This family scope explains why some pages show optional Pizza, Steam Clean or a cooktop Warming Zone: those labels alone are not proof of equipment on PHB925STSS. The exact product instead establishes three levels for the drawer, a removable drawer liner and four induction cooking areas. Although one structured field elsewhere mentions storage-drawer features, GE's product title, configuration and warming-drawer fields all identify this lower compartment as heated. Follow its three-setting controls rather than storage-drawer instructions.
Tell a function error from a locked or interrupted display
The troubleshooting chart on page 38 defines F with a following number or letter flashing in the oven display as a function error. Write down the complete characters, disconnect all power to the range for at least 30 seconds, then reconnect; if it comes back, the official guide directs a service call. The owner table does not decode the suffix into a particular failed board or temperature sensor. Other displays have different explanations. During self-clean, flashing LOCKED can mean that the oven door was not closed. Page 11 says holding Control Lockout for three seconds displays Loc On Loc and the same hold unlocks the keys, producing Loc OFF Loc. A blank display or flashing clock after a power interruption is treated separately on page 39. Read the visible pattern first, since neither a deliberate lock nor a power-loss clock reset is the documented F failure.
Choose pans and understand Boost sharing
Induction creates heat in suitable ferrous cookware rather than using a glowing radiant element, so vessel material and size govern whether a cooking area activates. The manual's page 8 suggests testing a pan with a magnet and using a flat bottom centered over the marked ring. Page 9 says a pan that is nonferrous or too small does not energize the coil; removing a pan for more than about 30 seconds shuts that zone off. Those are operating conditions, not evidence of an oven F fault. GE rates the right-front area at 3,700 watts Boost and 2,400 nominal, the right rear at 1,800/1,300, and each left zone at 2,500/1,850. Boost on one side shares power between that side's two areas and has a ten-minute interval in the guide. A low hum can also vary with cookware and power setting, without being a fault code.
Use convection and the food probe deliberately
The same range has True European Convection with Precise Air, an explicitly listed Convection Bake mode, a temperature probe and three heavy-duty oven racks. The linked manual distinguishes baking on one rack from multi-rack use and gives different placements for three racks. Its convection fan moves heated air around the food and may be heard while cooking; hearing the fan is not a reason to label the appliance defective. With the probe, enter a food target separately from the oven setting, then place the probe fully in the thickest part without touching bone or gristle. The guide cautions against leaving it inside for broil or self-clean. GE also lists Delay Bake on the exact SKU, which depends on a correctly set clock and a complete selected program. These recipe settings should not be confused with a function error simply because the display shows numbers.
Keep food warm and protect the ceramic top
PHB925STSS includes a three-level warming drawer, and page 21 explains the HI, STD and LO settings for hot, cooked food. The drawer is meant to hold food at serving temperature, not to warm a cold meal to a safe temperature; the guide also says Clear/Off on the oven control does not turn the drawer off. Select its own drawer switch when ending that operation. Five hot-surface indicators are specified for the cooktop, which can retain heat transferred back from hot pans even after induction power stops. Clean the patterned glass only according to the cool-surface ceramic procedure on page 34; it gives separate methods for ordinary film and burned-on residue. Never treat a still-warm top as safe to handle merely because an induction coil no longer detects a pan. This combination of pan sensing, heat warning and drawer controls is distinctive to the use of this range.
