MODEL OVERVIEW

About this model: GE PYE22KYNFS

PYE22KYNFS has a model-verified AutoFill Not Found message, Door Alarm and filter indicator.

Counter-depth PYE22K configuration

PYE22KYNFS is a GE Profile counter-depth French-door refrigerator, not a generic 22-cubic-foot variant. Its exact product listing gives 22.10 cubic feet total, divided into 14.92 for fresh food and 7.16 for the freezer. GE lists a 35.75-inch width, 69.875-inch overall height and 31.25-inch overall depth. These figures matter when checking a shallow installation: the countertop can align with the case while handles and opened doors still need clearance. The model has an exterior ice-and-water station that can dispense cubes, crushed ice or water, plus Hands-Free AutoFill. GE also lists an external digital temperature display, Door Alarm, a water-filter indicator and a full-width adjustable-temperature drawer. The linked manual covers several GE and GE Profile refrigerators. Page nine identifies PYE22K specifically under Control Style B, AutoFill Models. Use that labeled panel when interpreting display marks and button combinations; a separate Style A diagram on the same page includes a single-serve brewer that this SKU does not claim.

AutoFill and the Not Found message

The most distinctive display problem is AutoFill's Not Found message. AutoFill uses sensors around the dispenser to judge a container before dispensing without the paddle. Place a vessel centrally on the recessed tray, push it toward the back without touching the paddle, remove your hand and press AutoFill. The manual recommends a uniform container four to eight inches tall and two to six inches wide. A handle, straw or decoration at the rim can change the sensed shape and fill level; ice in the vessel can also affect volume. If Not Found appears, try another suitably shaped vessel before treating the refrigerator as broken. Wipe the sensors gently with a clean damp cloth, and never spray cleaner directly onto them. AutoFill can time out, so a stopped cycle is not automatically a water-system fault. Separate a container-recognition failure from weak flow by testing ordinary paddle water dispensing and recording what the panel actually says. This is the model-specific route from the PYE22K control drawing to the page-fourteen troubleshooting instruction.

Door Alarm and the Style B lock

Door Alarm is a different signal on the same Style B panel. The owner guide says it warns when a refrigerator or freezer door has been left open. Holding the Door Alarm pad changes the sound between low, high and off; a silent open door may simply reflect an off setting. When the refrigerator beeps, the guide's troubleshooting table points first to this alarm. Check both French doors and the freezer drawer, look for containers or drawer contents obstructing their seals, close them fully and observe whether the sound ends. Write down whether the warning came from an open fresh-food door or the lower drawer. The Lock key is separate on Style B and requires a three-second hold; it blocks dispenser and setting buttons, so a panel that ignores an AutoFill press may be locked rather than faulty. Do not use the Style A instruction to hold Door Alarm for locking, because the model-labeled Style B drawing has its own Lock pad.

Filter indicator and support notes

Filter status needs its own interpretation. GE confirms a filter indicator for PYE22KYNFS and puts the filter location on the left interior wall. The guide says a non-touch-screen indicator illuminates when replacement is due; a falling water flow may call for a supply or cartridge check even before that lamp appears. The shared guide describes more than one cartridge design, so read the part label on the fitted housing instead of assuming a filter number from a neighboring variant. After service, follow the reset instruction that matches the fitted screen and cartridge. When asking for help, give the full PYE22KYNFS number, the exact visible message, whether Not Found followed a particular vessel, the Door Alarm sound setting, Lock status, filter lamp state and whether paddle water still flows. Those observations distinguish a sensing issue, an open-door warning, a locked control and a filtration reminder without inventing an appliance fault code.
