MODEL OVERVIEW

About this model: LG DLE3470W

The white electric LG DLE3470W has real tE, PS and d80/d90/d95 messages in its linked owner manual.

Identify the white electric dryer before reading its display

The DLE3470W is the white electric member of LG's 3470 dryer line, identified separately from the gas DLG3471W in the official specification and by its own UPC. Its stated drum capacity is 7.4 cubic feet. The cabinet is 27 inches wide, 39 inches high and 30⅛ inches deep; with the door open, the sheet gives a depth of 51⅜ inches. Check both cabinet and door clearance when planning an alcove, because a blocked door makes cleaning the lint filter awkward. The matching washer listed by LG is WM3470CW, but that does not make washer codes relevant to this dryer.

The specification names eight drying programs, Sensor Dry, a numeric remaining-time display and FlowSense duct monitoring for this exact electric variant. The linked owner's manual covers the DL*347** family; its control drawing has the same eight named positions, separate modifier keys and the Flow Sense and Clean Filter lights. That combination confirms why its display messages apply to DLE3470W. The manual also covers gas and other family variants, so gas-supply messages and the steam-only “bIG” display description are outside this model's documented equipment.

Select a cycle without mistaking timing changes for faults

The selector separates Normal, Heavy Duty, Bedding, Towels, Perm. Press and Delicates sensor cycles from Speed Dry and Air Dry manual choices. Sensor Dry compares moisture in the load and air, then adjusts the remaining-time estimate. Speed Dry is intended for a small load; Air Dry tumbles suitable items without heat. Bedding is meant for bulky bedding, while Delicates uses the low-temperature preset. These differences matter when a load feels damp: first check whether the selected program and permitted dryness setting fit the fabric and load size.

Time Dry lets the user choose a fixed period from 20 to 60 minutes, with further adjustments through More Time or Less Time. The available buttons change by cycle, and an unavailable modifier gives two chimes without changing its setting. Energy Saver starts Normal with an air-dry period and can extend total time, so a cool start is not evidence that the heater has failed. Wrinkle Care may tumble intermittently for up to three hours after completion. A dryer that briefly restarts in that mode is following an option, not displaying a motor fault.

Interpret Flow Sense and the three exhaust codes

The Clean Filter lamp appears at the start of a cycle and goes out after Start/Pause; it is a maintenance reminder, not a fault code. Dry and Cool identify operating stages, and the displayed remaining time may shift when moisture sensing revises the estimate. Flow Sense has a different purpose: it warns when restricted ductwork reduces exhaust airflow. LG's installation test can be run with an empty, cool drum; it displays its own start and end states, which should not be confused with d80, d90 or d95 during troubleshooting.

The actual error table lists d80, d90 and d95 for a long or heavily restricted exhaust route. It directs the owner not to use the dryer until a severe restriction has been cleaned or repaired. Inspect the exterior vent hood, remove lint buildup and check whether the transition duct has been crushed or sharply bent. The four-bar Flow Sense display likewise calls for prompt duct inspection. LG notes that the indicator may stay lit for multiple cycles after a blockage is cleared while the system confirms better airflow; that persistence alone does not prove a new failure.

Distinguish temperature and power faults from airflow problems

A tE1 through tE7 message refers to a temperature sensor failure. The manual's action is to turn the dryer off and seek service, rather than repeatedly extending a cycle. PS has a different cause: the electric power cord may be incorrectly connected to the terminal block. That calls for the electrical connection to be checked. These messages should be recorded exactly, because neither a clogged vent nor an empty lint screen explains a sensor fault or an incorrect supply connection. A suspected wiring issue should be handled with power disconnected and a qualified person if the user cannot verify it safely.

For poor drying without a displayed fault, work through the physical checks before assuming electronics have failed. The manual says a full lint filter or fabric-softener residue can slow airflow, while an excessively long exhaust route can also extend drying time. Cleaning the lint screen and evaluating the duct therefore answer different questions from a PS code. The exact white electric specification calls for a 120/240-volt supply; do not apply a gas-model supply or ignition instruction from the shared manual. Document whether the symptom is a displayed code, four Flow Sense bars or simply a longer run.

Maintain the duct and use the dryer’s own diagnostic route

LG tells owners to remove lint from the filter after every cycle, inspect the vent duct monthly for buildup and clean the duct at least annually. A filter heavily coated with softener residue can be washed in warm soapy water and must dry fully before reinstallation; the dryer should never operate without it. The Damp Dry Signal, if selected, announces a load around 80 percent dry so lighter items can be removed early. It is a chosen option, unlike the restriction warning. That distinction helps avoid an unnecessary service call when an ordinary alert sounds.

If a code persists after the relevant manual steps, the DLE3470W specification lists Smart Diagnosis. The manual explains the audible procedure: power on the dryer, hold a phone near the Power button, then hold Temp. for at least three seconds while the LG app receives the tones. Keep the phone steady through transmission. The app may add diagnostic detail, but the displayed code and the safety instruction on the owner's page remain the starting point. For repeated tE sensor errors or unresolved PS wiring concerns, follow the manual's service guidance rather than resetting indefinitely.
