MODEL OVERVIEW

About this model: LG LRYXC2606S

The exact LG LRYXC2606S has four ice types, UVnano dispensing and a digital panel; its official owner PDF explains the door alarm, OFF Display Mode and filter reminder.

Confirm the 2606S layout and ice system

Check the full model suffix before using an ice-maker guide. LG's specification identifies LRYXC2606S as the PrintProof stainless version with 25.5 cubic feet of space: 16.9 in the fresh-food section and 8.6 in the lower freezer. The owner manual's model table calls LRYXC2606* a counter-depth French-door refrigerator. That row matters because the same manual covers InstaView and Door-in-Door variants; neither feature should be assumed from the shared cover alone. This exact model is distinguished instead by its unusually complex ice arrangement.

The exact LG sheet confirms four outputs. The maker inside the refrigerator door supplies cubed or crushed ice, while the freezer houses Craft Ice and Mini Cubed Ice. Those are different makers and storage locations, not four names for one setting. When a user reports that one ice type is absent, identify which maker and bin should produce it first. The countertop dispenser cannot be used as a test for whether the freezer's two specialty ice makers are running.

Diagnose ice quantity without mixing the bins

The control panel gives Craft Ice its own 3 ICE, 6 ICE and OFF choices. The manual says 6 ICE favors quantity, while 3 ICE favors clarity; a lower output in the clarity mode is therefore expected. Mini Cubed Ice uses a separate button held for three seconds. Compare each maker with its own selected state before assuming a single mechanical failure. For a newly installed unit, the manual says initial ice production can take approximately 48 hours, so a quiet first day is not enough to diagnose a fault.

Keep the freezer bins in their specified positions: Craft Ice on the left and Mini Cubed Ice on the right. The manual warns against exchanging them or putting specialty ice into the in-door dispenser bin, which can damage that mechanism. The first binful after installation should be discarded. Normal output also varies with door openings, water pressure and room temperature. If only one style is scarce, note its selected mode and bin position rather than changing all three makers at once; this produces a more useful account for support.

Read the UV and filter controls separately

The exact specification lists UVnano for the water dispenser. In the applicable control section, Self Care uses UV light at the water outlet for ten minutes each hour and can also be started with a three-second hold. Pressing Water interrupts a run; the manual says the automatic schedule resumes later. A paused cleaning cycle after someone dispenses water is not evidence that the UV feature is broken. It also does not replace the cartridge that filters the water supply.

That separate cartridge is the LT1000P specified for this model. A Water Filter indication is a replacement reminder: fit a compatible cartridge and hold Water Filter for three seconds to clear the indicator. LG also instructs the owner to dispense 2.5 gallons after replacement to remove air and contaminants. If water flow becomes weak, check the cartridge and water supply rather than treating the UV light as a flow control. UV Self Care, the filter reminder and ice-production modes address three different parts of the system.

Distinguish the door alarm from OFF and Lock

The owner overview says a door left open more than one minute causes a tone every thirty seconds. A misfolded center mullion on the left door can prevent closure, so check that piece and any packages protruding from the shelves. The exact specification confirms a door alarm. Let the door close completely and listen for the repeated tone to end. This warning reports a closure condition; it does not identify which ice maker or sensor has failed.

OFF on the digital panel requires a different response. The troubleshooting FAQ says that powered controls with no cooling and OFF indicate retail Display Mode, which disables refrigeration in both sections. Open a refrigerator door, hold Refrigerator and press Ice Plus three times to exit it; wait for the temperature settings to reappear. If the panel buttons instead appear unresponsive, check Lock, since that feature disables the other buttons. Do not mistake a locked control panel, a door tone and OFF for interchangeable error codes.

Check installation and temperature interpretation

The LRYXC2606S uses pocket handles with a welcome light, and the LG sheet calls for two inches behind the cabinet for airflow and connections. That clearance is especially relevant on a counter-depth installation intended to sit flush with nearby cabinets. The manual's model row identifies this as the plain French-door 2606 variant, so instructions that require knocking on InstaView glass belong to another listed family member. Check the actual doors and control labels before using a tutorial for a similar-looking model.

The default refrigerator setpoint in the owner manual is 37°F. Its display shows the selected target, not a live thermometer reading of the food or air. Consequently, seeing 37 on the panel immediately after leaving Display Mode does not prove that stored food is already cold. Give the fresh and freezer compartments time to stabilize and check their real condition. Keeping the model variant, installation clearance and meaning of the panel number straight helps separate an operating setting from a persistent cooling problem.
