MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: Midea MAD50PE1QWT-B
MAD50PE1QWT-B Cube pump dehumidifier: four drain arrangements and six manufacturer-verified display signals.
Confirm the pump-equipped Cube
MAD50PE1QWT-B is Midea's 50-pint-per-day Cube dehumidifier with a built-in drain pump. Its exact US listing cites use in spaces up to 4,500 square feet, a 41.54-pound product weight and a compact body about 14.45 inches wide, 14.57 deep and 14.76 high. The PDF cover names both this -B finish and the -S sibling; the product page confirms that this particular suffix has the pump. The Cube design can be extended above its bucket for operation or nested inside it for storage. That movable top creates two display conditions that ordinary fixed-bucket dehumidifiers do not have. Check the full model label and the actual pump hose connection before treating a general dehumidifier code explanation as applicable. SmartHome control and voice assistant support are listed for this exact model, but physical display signals remain the quickest diagnostic reference.
Set up airflow and bucket mode
Position the unit on a flat indoor floor with at least eight inches of air space on every side and sixteen inches at the outlet. The manual warns against operation below 41°F because frost can reduce performance. In normal bucket mode, lift the dehumidifier out of its nested shipping position, turn it ninety degrees and align the arrows on the top and bucket; the controls and water window should face the same side. P2 appears when the bucket reaches the selected fill level, even if the power button is off. Empty the bucket by its handle, pour from a front corner, then place the top securely back on it. Eb is different: it reports that the bucket or upper unit is removed or wrongly positioned while the pump-equipped machine is operating. Reseat it before assuming a sensor has failed.
Choose the correct drain route
This manual offers four arrangements: bucket, bucketless, continuous gravity drainage and powered pump drainage. Bucketless mode must be enabled within three minutes of plugging in, and the pump cannot be selected in that mode. Gravity drainage needs its outlet lower than the unit's drain port, with the hose correctly seated and sloping down. Pump mode instead requires the upper unit over the bucket with its pump inlet inside. It does not start pumping until the water reaches fill level four; some water remains to protect the pump inlet. The discharge hose can reach an elevated drain up to fourteen feet above the port. A blinking pump light calls for checking the pump filter, hose blockage, bucket water and hose seating; it is a separate warning from the six text codes. Avoid an outdoor hose at freezing temperature.
Decode the display without merging conditions
AS identifies the humidity sensor and ES the evaporator tube-temperature sensor. For either one, Midea says to unplug and reconnect the appliance, then contact customer service if the error persists. EC means the unit has detected refrigerant leakage; a recurring EC needs service, not owner work on a sealed refrigerant circuit. E3 is described only as a unit malfunction, so it should not be translated into a specific motor or circuit-board failure. P2 means a chosen bucket fill threshold has been met, while Eb concerns bucket position; their owner actions are emptying or reseating rather than replacing electronics. Read uppercase E3 and the mixed-case Eb exactly. Photograph the display before the instructed reset, and note whether the appliance was in bucket, gravity-drain or pump arrangement.
Recognize normal pauses and maintain the flow path
The compressor may pause for three minutes after a stop to protect itself, and automatic defrost may cycle it off when frost forms. Neither behavior by itself proves AS, ES or E3. In Set mode, humidity changes in five-percent steps; Max and Continuous run differently, so a disabled setpoint button can reflect the selected mode. If the app and display temporarily disagree during network trouble, the manual says they can resynchronize when the connection returns. For cleaning, switch off and unplug first. Rinse and dry the air filters, clean the bucket periodically, and clear the pump filter if the pump light flashes. Do not operate without filters. These care steps support drainage and airflow; they do not repair a persistent EC or sensor code.
