MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: Midea MDT24P5AST
MDT24P5AST is Midea's fourteen-place-setting smart dishwasher with Angle Wash, Utensil Wash and three manual-documented errors.
Identify the targeted-wash dishwasher
MDT24P5AST is Midea's 24-inch top-control smart dishwasher with a stainless-steel tub and fourteen listed place settings. Its distinguishing sprays are Angle Wash and Utensil Wash. The former supplements the lower spray arm at the left corners of the bottom rack; the latter aims directly at the silverware basket. The product lists a third rack, a three-level adjustable upper rack, flexible cutlery sections and LED lighting inside. Fan-assisted Extended Dry lengthens the heating and drying period, while the published sound rating is 45 dBA. Cabinet measurements are 23.9 inches wide, 24.6 deep and 33.8 high. The exact manufacturer's product page links an owner PDF whose English cover prints MDT24P5AST and fourteen place settings. This model therefore has its own verified operating and diagnostic material rather than relying on a neighboring dishwasher with similar styling.
Place cookware where the special sprays reach
The special zones are useful only when water can reach the intended surfaces. The owner guide says Angle Wash sprays from the lower rack's left corners, working with the ordinary lower arm on tough soils. For a large baking sheet, raise the blue lower-rack tines and face the dirty side toward those nozzles, leaving as little overlap with adjacent dishes as possible. Utensil Wash adds a direct jet at the silverware basket; nested spoons can still block each other, so mix items and use separators. Point sharp knives and skewers downward, and make sure nothing protrudes below the basket into a rotating arm. The upper rack can move about two inches, but empty it before adjustment so it engages securely. The general loading rule remains that both spray arms rotate freely and dishes are not stacked over one another.
Set cycles, My Wash and delay correctly
Seven cycles are listed: Auto, Heavy, Normal, Delicate, Quick, Rinse and My Wash. Six options include Sanitize, Hi Temp, Heated Dry, Extended Dry, Angle Wash and Utensil Wash; the available combination depends on the chosen cycle. My Wash is not ready by default: the manual requires parameters to be set in the MSmart app, a WiFi connection and an upload to the dishwasher. The Delay feature schedules a selected program one to twenty-four hours ahead. For an ordinary start, press Start/Cancel and latch the door within four seconds. Four front LEDs can show progress through Wash, Rinse, Dry and completion; their fault indication is different from a routine blinking progress light. Choose Heated Dry or Extended Dry according to the cycle and load rather than treating every wet plastic item as a malfunction.
Maintain cleaning and drying performance
Cleaning and drying complaints have several documented checks before service. Use only automatic-dishwasher detergent and place a pod in the dispenser cup, not loose in the tub. Liquid rinse aid lets water drain from surfaces and reduces spots. The cylinder, fine and micro filters should be removed, rinsed and reinstalled correctly; debris there can reduce spray and drainage. If the dishwasher will not start, look at power, Control Lock, the door latch and the four-second close requirement. A little clean water around the bottom outlet is normal for the seal, whereas substantial standing water calls for checking the drain hose and air gap. Cold inlet water can lengthen a cycle, and a rapid series of beeps is the manual's error cue. An air-dry or energy-saving choice can leave dishes wetter than a cycle with Heated Dry.
Respond to E1, E4 and Ed
The rendered English error table on PDF page 43 lists E1, E4 and Ed alongside four-light patterns. E1 means too little water entered during the allotted time; confirm that the supply is open and maintains 20 to 80 psi. E4 means the overflow or leak sensor activated. First shut off the dishwasher's water, then check the filter system carefully for blockage and possible broken glass; if the tub is dry, the manual directs Customer Service. Ed means a communication exception: the display board cannot receive or the main board cannot send a signal for more than twenty seconds, and the table directs Customer Service. The front LEDs assist recognition, but the display's exact characters select the correct row. Ed uses a lowercase d and is distinct from the end of a completed wash. Do not open the control electronics to investigate it yourself.
