MODEL OVERVIEW

About this model: Midea MRT18D3BST

MRT18D3BST is the Canadian 18.1-cu-ft stainless top-freezer refrigerator with freezer damper, optional IM1900MD ice maker and three verified LED sensor patterns.

Identify the larger top-freezer cabinet

MRT18D3BST is Midea Canada's stainless 18.1-cubic-foot top-freezer refrigerator, with 13 cubic feet for fresh food and 5.1 for the freezer. The exact product lists a 29.7-inch width, 30.7-inch depth, 66.6-inch height, 166.7-pound weight and 43-dB sound figure. Two glass shelves and two crispers divide the fresh-food section; four door racks there and two in the freezer provide bottle and small-item storage. The owner PDF cover includes MRT18D3BST among D2 and D3 colour variants, and its technical table describes the family nominally as 18 cubic feet. That rounded manual figure does not erase the exact product's 18.1-cubic-foot listing. The manual also confirms the family uses 115 V at 60 Hz. Measure this 30-inch class cabinet separately from Midea's smaller 28-inch top-freezer range before reusing installation advice.

Allow space for the reversible doors

Midea describes operation in garages and other unheated areas from 3°C to 43°C, but the installation chapter still says free-standing, well ventilated and more than 100 mm from adjacent walls. The reversible doors help fit a room layout; the owner guide has a hinge kit and recommends another person assist when changing the swing. The opening diagram is useful because door width at 135 degrees is much larger than the cabinet width alone. Set the adjustable feet on a level floor with the front slightly higher to encourage door closing. This particular manual says to let the newly placed cabinet stand half an hour before connecting power, then run it two to three hours before food goes in; in hotter summer conditions it says more than four hours. Do not copy the two-hour preconnection wait printed for a different family. Allow room for the doors and condenser airflow even in an unheated space.

Use the damper and crisper controls

The exact model advertises multi-airflow, automatic defrost and LED interior lighting. It is ice-maker ready rather than equipped with a guaranteed factory ice maker; the manual names the optional compatible Midea IM1900MD kit and directs installation to its separate instructions. An owner without that kit should not look for an ice-making fault here. The more distinctive controls are mechanical: a damper slider starts at position A and can move left when a colder freezer is needed. The crisper humidity paddle is wet in the middle and dry at either side. Those positions manage two different compartments. Keep food from covering the air outlet, which the guide says can weaken cooling. The two crispers and gallon-sized door bins support organization, but shelves, bins and airflow openings still need space for circulation. Adjust a damper deliberately rather than misreading its movement as a malfunction.

Know what the four LEDs show

The front panel has four numbered LEDs and one setting button. A press advances the temperature setting, which takes effect after roughly fifteen seconds. Super Cool temporarily applies the coldest level and expires after six hours. A three-second hold unlocks the control; it locks again after fifteen seconds without input. In normal operation the LEDs show the chosen temperature gear. That ordinary pattern differs from two lamps flashing together. The guide also describes automatic defrost; a short compressor change or a momentary lock transition is not itself a listed fault. If cooling disappoints, the troubleshooting table first mentions power, food packs blocking the door, uneven floor and frequent door opening. The interior LED lamp should be replaced by qualified service. Collect the exact two-light pattern before assuming an electronic sensor failure.

Distinguish three sensor faults

The PDF's page 17 was checked as an image because its text extraction omitted the graphic LED labels while retaining the fault descriptions. The visible table maps flashing LED1 with LED2 to a refrigerator-temperature sensor fault; LED1 with LED3 to a freezer frost-sensor fault; and LED1 with LED4 to ambient-temperature sensor failure. The names are paired flashing positions, not letters on a digital display. Because LED1 appears in every row, observe whether the second flashing lamp is LED2, LED3 or LED4. A normal temperature selection or the lock's brief all-lamp blink should not be reported as one of these faults. If a pair persists, record MRT18D3BST and both positions, then request qualified diagnosis. The actual table is in the owner PDF linked by the exact Canadian product page.
