MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: Midea MSU16UW6WB
Midea MSU16UW6WB humidifier: P1 water warning, EH communication fault, CL cleaning reminder and tank checks.
Confirm the tank and the exact humidifier
MSU16UW6WB is Midea's black, 1.6-gallon smart ultrasonic humidifier with both warm and cool mist. Its US product page lists four mist settings, automatic humidity control, aromatherapy, wireless control and a choice of seven ambient-light colors. The exact model appears on the linked user-manual cover. Its product dimensions are about 11.06 inches wide, 6.14 inches deep and 12.99 inches high; the manual rounds these numbers slightly. The advertised run time is up to sixty hours, so it is a maximum claim rather than a promise at every mist setting. It is important to identify this tank-and-base appliance before following a similarly named dehumidifier guide: here water is added to make mist. The manual places it on a flat waterproof surface, above floor level and clear of nearby walls and furniture.
Read the display before interpreting a fault
By default the screen shows room relative humidity. Manual, Auto and Sleep are operating modes, while four selectable mist levels are available in Manual mode. The timer can schedule start or shutdown for up to twelve hours. A flashing pair of dashes means the tank is not seated correctly on the base, which differs from P1: P1 is the water-shortage warning. Remove power before refilling, use filtered or distilled water rather than hard tap water and do not exceed the 1.6-gallon/6-litre maximum line. Lower the tank into its groove until it clicks; adding water allows operation to resume. Oils and perfume do not belong in the water tank. The separate aromatherapy sponge is their designated place, so a smell or poor mist should not lead to pouring fragrance through the mist outlet.
Separate the cleaning lockout from an electronic defect
The rendered fault table on PDF page 17 has three display labels: P1, EH and CL. CL is the cleaning reminder, not an unidentified failed sensor. After 336 cumulative running hours, Midea says the reminder stops the unit's functions until maintenance is completed. Unplug it, clean scale from the tank and base, follow the manual's vinegar-and-water method for the heating and atomizing plates, and keep water out of the air vent. The manual also recommends cleaning the water tank and base at least every three days to limit deposits and contamination. Let safe-to-rinse parts dry before reassembly. Then hold Warm Mist for three seconds to reset the operating-hours counter. Simply pressing controls without cleaning defeats the reminder and leaves the cause of poor mist in place.
Handle EH and network setup as different problems
EH is printed beside Communication fault in the page-17 diagnostic table. Its recommended action is to contact after-sales service; opening the electrical base is not a user repair. That is separate from difficulty connecting SmartHome. For app pairing, hold the Timer control for three seconds and use a home wireless network with its 2.4-GHz band enabled. Public networks that require a sign-in page are unsuitable according to the manual. The network indicator shows connection status but is not itself EH. If the appliance is otherwise making mist, a phone setup problem should be described to support as such; if EH appears on the machine display, record that exact two-character label. Keeping those observations apart avoids sending a working water system for a nonexistent water fault.
Use symptoms to check placement and water quality
The manufacturer's troubleshooting chart addresses several conditions without additional codes. If the tank looks full but the unit still reports low water, a tilt can make the water-level sensor read incorrectly; place the appliance steadily on a solid, level surface. White dust around the room is linked to high-mineral tap water, and the manual recommends cleaning the tank and base and switching to demineralized or distilled water. Bad-smelling mist likewise calls for tank and base cleaning. An abnormal noise can simply reflect unstable placement. These are checks to make before concluding that P1 means a broken sensor. If EH persists or routine cleaning and correct placement do not restore operation, give service the exact SKU, display label, water type and recent cleaning history. Stop and unplug immediately if there is a burnt smell.
