MODEL OVERVIEW

About this model: Samsung DW80DG5500SRAA

DW80DG5500SRAA owner guide: exact 55-series controls, 1C low-water code, LC leak warning and drying settings.

Confirm this 5500 model and its manual

Samsung Canada identifies DW80DG5500SRAA as a 48 dBA dishwasher with a third rack. Its exact specification describes rotary washing, hidden touch controls, five programs and automatic door-opening drying; it lists ENERGY STAR certification, 225 kWh a year and 3.2 gallons per cycle. These published figures describe the product configuration, not a promised reading in every home. The support-linked owner's manual covers the DW80DG55 family on its first page. Page 10 makes an unusually useful distinction: the third rack applies to DW80DG55 and DW70H83YE, while another family on the cover lacks it. This matters when an online copy bundles several variants. Match the full DW80DG5500SRAA number and its touch panel before following a button sequence. Samsung's product page presents conflicting capacity numbers in different fields, so place-setting capacity is intentionally omitted here.

Match loading to the five-cycle panel

The panel's five choices are Auto, Normal, Heavy, Delicate and Express 60. Auto senses soil; Normal is the basis of the energy label; Heavy addresses stronger soil; Express 60 is the quicker approximately one-hour option. Delicate is intended for soiled fragile glass and crystal, and the manual cautions against treating it as a universal glass program. Lower Rack is a separate option: it activates only the lower nozzle for a small load, rather than a special wash zone on one side. Hi-Temp Wash raises the main wash temperature for baked-on food but cannot be selected with Delicate. To begin, press Start and close the door within three seconds. A started cycle can be cancelled by holding Start for three seconds before choosing another. If the machine appears to ignore a new option, first determine whether a previous cycle is still running or the door was closed too slowly.

Interpret drying settings before assuming a fault

Drying behavior has its own settings menu. Hold Sanitize and Delay Start together for three seconds, move through choices with Sanitize and confirm with Delay Start. U1/U0 controls sound; F1 through F5 sets rinse-aid quantity, with F4 as the factory default and higher numbers dispensing more. A1/A0 enables or disables Auto Release Dry. When enabled, the door opens one to fifteen minutes before the wash ends; the manual says it may not close by hand for the next two minutes. That opening and brief resistance are expected behavior, not an LC leak alert. If dishes remain wet, check the rinse-aid refill lamp, the F setting and whether A0 disabled the door feature. Sanitize raises the final-rinse temperature, but the manual's NSF 184 statement applies specifically to Normal combined with Sanitize. It cannot be extended to any other cycle using the same button.

Maintain the filter and verify starting conditions

A machine that will not start needs a basic control and water-path check before its code table is used. Control Lock disables buttons other than Power and remains active after restart; hold Sanitize for three seconds to release it. The troubleshooting page also names an unlatched door, an unpressed Start button, a closed inlet valve and an open circuit breaker. It gives a supply-pressure range of 20 to 120 psi and explains that a cold-water connection prolongs the cycle because the dishwasher must heat the water. For cleaning performance, Samsung recommends monthly filter care: take out the lower rack, unlock the coarse filter, remove the cylindrical micro filter below it, rinse both and lock the cover firmly. A loose cover reduces filtration. Thus a slow or weak wash should be documented with inlet temperature, filter condition and the actual display message before concluding that an internal part failed.

Separate low water, supply, drain and leakage

The display sounds a warning when it shows a genuine information code. On this model's applicable page 42, 1C is a low-water-level check. Samsung's first steps are to inspect the filter, use dishwasher detergent, spread dishes evenly and restart; do not automatically call 1C an inlet-valve failure. The related-looking 4C specifically asks for a water-supply check, including a shut or clogged valve, freezing and insufficient pressure. A continuing 4C calls for closing the supply and authorized service. Code 5C moves the investigation to the drain hose and sump opening, after the supply is closed. LC is more urgent because the table calls it leakage or overflow: where the supply-valve connection leaks, close the valve, switch off the dishwasher breaker and contact the installer. Persistent LC also needs authorized service. Record the exact two characters and any visible water; these four entries call for different first observations.

Escalate pump or heating warnings

Two further entries do not justify guessing a replacement component. 3C means a pump-operation check; Samsung recommends switching the dishwasher off and trying another start, then calling authorized service if it continues. HC means a high-temperature heating check. The manual permits a functional cycle with the dishwasher empty and detergent added, followed by breaker shutdown and authorized service if HC repeats. Neither label proves that the pump or heater is the failed part. A code on a display should be copied before a reset, alongside the cycle and any recent maintenance. The family PDF also contains a PC zone-wash row, but this exact 5500 panel offers Lower Rack rather than a zone-wash button. PC is therefore not presented as a documented code for DW80DG5500SRAA. That model boundary prevents an owner from chasing a control feature their dishwasher does not have.
