MODEL OVERVIEW

About this model: Samsung WA50R5200AW/US

WA50R5200AW/US is the white Samsung top-loading washer with an EZ Access tub, Active WaterJet and an LED control panel.

Identify the 5.0 DOE top loader before reading a code

WA50R5200AW/US is the white Samsung top-loading washer with an EZ Access tub, Active WaterJet and an LED control panel. Samsung Canada states capacity in two measurement systems: 5.8 cubic feet under IEC and 5.0 cubic feet under DOE. The manufacturer's separate WA50R5200AW specification sheet calls it a 5.0-cubic-foot DOE machine. The owner booklet covers both WA50R5200A* and WA54R7200A*. Its page 62 gives them different capacity columns, 5.0 and 5.4 cubic feet respectively; read the WA50 column for this SKU. Page 35 draws a cycle dial, display and individual temperature, rinse, spin and soil keys. That display can show an information code as well as remaining time. Before applying a troubleshooting row, verify the label on the cabinet and copy the displayed characters exactly. The 4C water-supply message, 4C2 cold-hose warning and 5C drain message answer three different questions.

Use the pretreatment faucet and controls as documented

Active WaterJet supplies a small faucet inside the open tub so a stained item can be worked on before it joins the load. The manual says to switch the washer on, open the lid, start the jet and press its key again to stop. It stops automatically after five minutes or when the maximum level is detected. If the faucet was used and the machine then appears unwilling to power on, the troubleshooting page explains that water added by the jet may be draining first. The shallower EZ Access shape is meant to make clothing at the bottom easier to reach; it does not change the safe loading limit. Deep Fill requests additional water and lengthens the cycle, while Pre Soak adds eighteen minutes at the beginning. Fabric Softener adds a final rinse. These are separate controls, so record the selected cycle and option before assuming that an unusually long run signals a fault.

Match fabric and load to a real cycle

The WA50R5200AW/US offers ten named cycles, including Normal, Heavy Duty, Whites, Bedding/Waterproof, Perm Press, Quick Wash, Delicates, Rinse+Spin, Spin Only and Self Clean. Normal adjusts wash time and rinse count to the detected load. Quick Wash is for lightly soiled garments and the manual recommends four pounds or less. The Bedding/Waterproof instructions explicitly warn against mixing water-resistant and ordinary items in the same load; check care labels before using that cycle. The selected spin level also matters: No Spin leaves out the final spin, while Rinse Hold keeps laundry in rinse water until another drain or spin is run. Delay End is a finish-time setting from one to twenty-four hours, not an estimate that the machine will start at once. When a setting appears unavailable, check the cycle chart and current options before treating the display as a diagnosis.

Separate routine care from a supply or start problem

Samsung's Self Clean reminder comes after twenty wash cycles and calls for an empty tub. The maintenance instructions recommend the cycle at least monthly or every twenty cycles, with no laundry in the drum. For weak filling, first open the taps and check straight, connected hoses. The manual specifically links a clogged inlet mesh filter to 4C and describes cleaning those filters once or twice a year. A lid that will not open during washing can simply be locked for the running cycle: pause and wait for the lock icon to disappear. If a cycle will not start, the checklist asks for a closed lid, open taps, held Start/Pause and Child Lock state; clicking while the lock is checked and a brief initial drain can be normal. Smart Care can read a displayed code by phone camera, but the manual also allows manual entry when glare prevents recognition. These checks provide useful context for a service call without guessing an internal part.

Read the three code-table pages by system and action

The printed information-code table occupies pages 56 to 58. It separates 1C, a water-level sensor issue that triggers a three-minute automatic drain, from 4C for supply, 4C2 for a cold hose on the wrong tap, and 5C for failure to drain. For 4C and LC the Power button is temporarily unavailable during a three-minute drain; that delay is documented behavior, not proof of a dead control. The control and electrical group includes 9C1 for overvoltage, 9C2 for low voltage, AC6 for inverter communication and HC for a high-temperature heating check. PC and PC1 concern different clutch-position signals; the table directs a power-cycle and service if they persist, not a user repair. A dC message calls for a shut lid with no trapped laundry, and Ub points to a load that needs redistributing on a stable floor. Ur has a different role: it reports extra rinsing after imbalance and may be cleared with a key. Keep that status separate from fault codes when recording the incident.
