MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: Samsung WF50BG8300AVUS
Samsung's Canadian business page identifies WF50BG8300AVUS as a Brushed Black front-load washer with Super Speed.
Check which WF8300B washer is described
Samsung's Canadian business page identifies WF50BG8300AVUS as a Brushed Black front-load washer with Super Speed. Its capacity entry explicitly says 5.8 cubic feet under IEC and 5.0 under DOE, so those numbers describe different measuring conventions rather than two drum sizes. The linked owner booklet names the WF50BG83**A* family on its cover; the specification on physical page 60 lists 5.0 cubic feet, a 1,200 rpm spin speed and a 900-watt heating rating. That makes the booklet applicable to this SKU. The exact product specifications also say Auto Dispense is absent and an internal heater is present. Advice for a Samsung washer with automatic detergent dosing would therefore mislead an owner of this machine. Use the manual detergent compartment and interpret HC as a relevant heating code when it appears, while leaving internal repair to service staff.
Avoid water and load problems at setup
The installation instructions require new water hoses with rubber gaskets at both ends. They call for a little space behind the washer so the hoses are not pinched, and distinguish the hot and cold tap connections. A hose that is loose, crossed or kinked can produce symptoms that look like machine failures. The manual tells an owner to connect the appropriate hoses, then check that they hold firmly. Bedding is a separate load case: Samsung recommends no more than seven pounds for bedding or covers and a moderate spin setting. An overloaded drum can wash poorly, while one bulky item can later trigger UB because spin balance is inadequate. The detergent instructions specify low-suds HE detergent. Powder goes into the main-wash area only after removing the liquid insert, rather than into the insert itself. These physical checks are useful before an information code is attributed to a control board.
Understand the controls before diagnosing an odd cycle
The WF50 display shows remaining time, settings or an information code when the washer needs checking. It detects load weight and can adjust water level, wash duration, rinses and spins, although the owner notes that some cycles may be exceptions. A longer or shorter cycle is therefore not automatically a fault. Delay End sets the planned finish between one and 24 hours; the number is a completion time, not how many hours the motor will run. Auto Temperature Control uses an internal thermistor, and the owner explains that some normal or heavy-duty selections may supply cold water to reduce energy use. Self Clean is recommended at least monthly or every 40 cycles, with an empty drum. It addresses accumulated residue and odor, not an active water-supply fault. The panel and cycle descriptions give context for a complaint before the code table is consulted.
Read both pages of the WF50 information-code table
The first table page, physical page 56, lists 1C for water-level sensing, DC for an open door, DC1 for the door switch, LC for a water leak, 4C for the supply line, 4C2 for overly hot incoming water, 5C for the drain system and HC for the wash heater. The next page adds UB for spin balance; 8C, 8C1 and 8C2 for the MEMS sensor; OC for possible overflow; 3C for the motor; AC6 for control-board communication; 9C1 and 9C2 for electronic control and supply; and SF for system failure. Samsung describes different responses. For OC the instruction is to close the water valve and call service, while 5C directs the owner to check the drain filter. For HC and SF, the manual says to power off and contact Samsung. Record every character, because 4C and 4C2 are separate diagnoses.
Use maintenance steps that match the code
For 4C, the manual specifically notes that a clogged inlet mesh can produce the code. It recommends cleaning the mesh once or twice a year, after turning off power and water, and more often where supply water is dirty. For 5C, the drain filter should be cleaned five or six times annually; Samsung first directs an emergency drain of the remaining drum water and then removal of debris. The emergency-drain procedure also applies after a power failure, when water must leave the drum before laundry is removed. Smart Care can scan a displayed code with a phone camera, but the owner allows manual entry if glare prevents recognition. Those aids do not replace the literal two-page table or a qualified service visit when a code persists. The full PDF remains linked to Samsung because its rights notice prohibits public mirroring without prior written consent.
