MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: Samsung WF53BB8900ADUS
WF53BB8900ADUS is the Brushed Navy Bespoke front-load washer on Samsung's US product page.
Identify the Brushed Navy washer before using a shared manual
WF53BB8900ADUS is the Brushed Navy Bespoke front-load washer on Samsung's US product page. That page describes a 5.3-cubic-foot machine with AI OptiWash and Auto Dispense. Samsung's exact-model Canadian support page links a 248-page owner booklet covering both WF53BB89**A* and WF46BG65**A* families. The distinction is operational, not just cosmetic. In the booklet, the WF53 specification column gives 5.3 cubic feet, a 900-watt heating rating and a 34.4-inch cabinet depth with the door shut. Its door-open depth is 56.3 inches. The smaller WF46 column has different dimensions and capacity. Read the WF53 column when checking installation space or a heating-related information code. The manual marks AI OptiWash and Drum Light as WF53-only, so these controls are expected on this SKU even though they are absent from the WF46 variant in the same PDF.
Prepare detergent settings for the load being washed
Auto Dispense is more than a reservoir that empties at a fixed rate. The owner describes separate automatic liquid detergent and softener chambers, as well as manual compartments for detergent and bleach. Before starting AI OptiWash, Samsung recommends enabling Auto Dispense; the cycle can then vary detergent with what its sensors detect. The type, weight and soil of the laundry influence the cycle. Its fabric sensing is specified for loads of eight pounds or less, while the turbidity sensor operates across weights, so it would be misleading to expect identical adjustments on every load. Dose per Wash and Dose per Rinse offer Low, Medium, High and Off, starting at Medium. Concentration is a separate control: selecting a more concentrated product reduces the dispensed quantity. If a garment comes out poorly cleaned, check the dose and concentration settings before assuming the dispenser has failed.
Recognize expected panel and drawer behavior
The manual says Wool, Delicates, Outdoor and Activewear begin with automatic dosing disabled unless an input level is selected. A load on one of those cycles therefore need not reduce the liquid in the reservoir. Empty chambers can trigger a refill message, while an unseated drawer has its own open-drawer notice. Samsung also warns against storing detergent or softener in the automatic chambers for more than six weeks; cleaning the compartments before a refill is part of normal upkeep. AI Pattern, which remembers frequently chosen cycles and settings, should not be confused with the sensing performed by AI OptiWash during a wash. Smart Control involves pairing through SmartThings, and a Wi-Fi icon by itself concerns network connection. These are separate settings to inspect when the dial or app seems to behave unexpectedly.
Decode the first message before repeating the cycle
Physical page 67 of the owner booklet lists five written display messages. Check drainage concerns water leaving the washer and directs attention to the hose or drain filter. Check water supply concerns incoming water, including taps, pressure and inlet mesh; Check water lines specifically calls for confirming the cold hose is attached to the cold tap. Unbalanced laundry detected can appear when a load cannot spin evenly, and Door is open concerns the door closure or fabric caught in it. Page 68 switches to literal codes. OC reports overflow, LC and LC1 call for a drain-hose check, 3C concerns drum-motor operation, HC concerns high-temperature heating, and 1C concerns the water-level sensor. AC and AC6 identify different communication paths between control boards, while DC1 concerns the main door lock. Write the entire code down because the suffix changes the entry.
Try only the response associated with that code
The owner recommends a restart after a spin for OC, with service if overflow remains. For LC or LC1, inspect the drain-hose end and possible blockage; a 3C entry allows a cycle retry. The instructions for 1C, AC and DC1 call for powering off and trying again, with service if a code persists. HC has a plausible application to this WF53 because the owner specification includes a heater, but a repeated HC is a service matter rather than a reason to open the cabinet. When Check water supply appears, buttons can be disabled for three minutes while the machine drains. A stopped washer can also take up to three minutes to release its door. Record the code, load and cycle before retrying. For the complete procedure, use Samsung's linked owner PDF; its copyright notice does not grant permission to host a public copy elsewhere.
